Ben's birthday cake

My oldest brother Ben is celebrating his birthday Tuesday. Since we have a few b-days close we had a family party/dinner tonight. I made the cakes for both Ben and Scott. Ben loves to golf, so naturally i had to make a golf ball!

By far my favorite thing about this cake was eating it!!! Gabe and Sam (my nephew's) loved to eat the grass. sam just kept saying "i like to eat grass" it was so cute! I used straws for support of scott's cake and they had fun with those also. when we pulled them out there was a little cake in the bottom so they sucked it out....and that is how they ate the rest of their cake, through the straw. at one point Gabe stuck his straw into the cake and started sucking cake through the straw, it was classic! anyway, happy birthday bro!

Another snow man cake

We were asked by a friend in our ward to make a snow man cake for a birthday party she was in charge of. honestly, i haven't had such a stressfull decorating experience yet. i didn't get off work until 6pm and the cake was due by 7! thanks to scott we were able to get it all decorated in time and delivered. i think it turned out great for how fast we did it!

Kasia's baptism

We snorta had a great weekend in colorado!! We were invited out to our niece's baptism on feb 6th. We drove out with my parents. the drive was scary, it was of course snowing in the mountain areas, but scott did a great job driving safely through. While we were out there we got to see Kasia's last basketball game. she is such a kind girl! she didn't like to foul, steal the ball, get in the way when someone was trying to pass, just all around nice. it was fun to watch! after that we went to the church to help set up. lori had a helium tank and scott and i were filling up balloons. we had a little left over, so of course scott had fun with it. kasia gave him the strangest look when he sucked some in and talked with this cute little high voice. we tried to get her to do it but she didn't want to. she would suck some down but then wouldn't talk. it was funny! the baptism was a noon and she looked so beautiful in her white dress! she sang the hymn "I'll seek the Lord early" with her friend Claire that was also baptised that day. it was beautiful!

We had a great time being with family especially the late night snorta games! even though we aren't any good at that game it was snorta fun to play! thanks for letting us crash your house!

Mom's birthday cake

my mom loves snowmen so scott and i made this cake for her birthday party which hayden and cheyenne planned while the whole family was here for christmas vacation.

Jalaine's birthday cake

so i'm a little behind on posts...this was a cake i made for jalaine's 29th birthday. Greg let me make what i wanted, so nice of him. i really wanted to make her a princess/barbie cake just for the reaction, which by the way was worth it!

18th birthday cake

i was asked to make a birthday cake for a girl in our ward for her 18th birthday. she told her mom she wanted a "good" cake. all her mom told me was that she wanted a red velvet cake. the rest she left up to me....hard to do when you don't know the person the cake is for. she did tell me her room was green and yellow polka dots so i went with that and with scott's help came up with this...

This is the top view. the bottom cake was a triangle and the top was round. both were red velvet...which by the way is not a very delicious cake in my opinion (but they loved it).

the 18 on top was cut out of fondant and held up by lollipop sticks :)

after about 25 tries i finally got her name cut out in one piece!!! it was a pain but i think it really made the cake cute and unique. they were so excited when scott walked through the door with the cake! the dad said "well that's going on facebook!" they didn't want to cut into it. the son recommended freezing it to save it. but they finally did work up the nerve to cut and eat it and they loved it!!

Good luck to everyone on their new year's resolutions. mine is to learn how to cook. ya know, like take a recipe and make it and have it taste good. so if anyone has any easy and yummy recipes i'll take them!
