Provo Temple

yes that is the provo temple made out of cake and rice crispie treats! my brother Hayden's ward was having a cake auction and asked if i would donate my time and make a cake. he said they would like a provo temple cake and so i said yes....i know i'm crazy. it was a ton of fun to make though. if i had it to do over i would do thing different, but for a first try i think it went pretty good. it sold for $120 at the cake auction, that was fun. there was a real auctioneer guy doing his thing. he was funny.

Braxton's Baptism

Scott's nephew Braxton turned 8 today and got baptised! He asked Scott to do the baptism. Scott went on a scout camp the night before and got sick but luckily he was able to make it through the baptism and confirmation without throwing up. He had to do the baptism 2 times. the first time he was holding down his feet and they were too close so he couldn't bend braxton to get his head under the water. the second time he had him under all except for the foot but luckily it went down in time to count...but he was under for a while so good job on holding your breath braxton!!! The confirmation went great also despite scott's upset tummy. it was a fun day! oh i forgot to mention we were late so everyone was waiting on us to get there, scott didn't get away from his scout camp in time...oh well at least we made it.

Sarah's wedding!

My high school friends Sarah in the wedding dress (which she designed, it was beautiful!!) and Rachael on the opposite side! All 3 of us were married this year!

Congrats to one of my old high school friends! She married her sweetie John in september and had her reception on thursday night. i was able to make her wedding cake for her. it was a little stressfull getting there considering we got lost but we eventually found someone who could direct us to the place! it was a beautiful location, Heber C. Kimball's house. it's located inside This is the Place park. wow, what a view. anyway congrats to Sarah and John!

YEAH, new niece HAYDEN MARIE

Scott's older sister Danielle just had her 5th kid! i didn't get any close up pictures because they took her to do all the tests and didn't bring her back before we had to leave. but these pictures are fun. scott has a bit of a runny nose so to be safe he wore a mask...yes a childs mask with mickey mouse, donald duck and pluto on it! the nurse got mad at him for having it on. good times. anyway niece HAYDEN MARIE was born on Thursday the 8th around 12:42 pm was 21" and 7lbs. she is a cutie with lots of dark brown hair. so fun to get a new neice!

Baby shower cake

This week was busy, started out with a baby shower cake. IT'S A BOY!!! this was a fun cake, but i have to admit, it wasn't complete until i added the little teddy bears! way fun!

my birthday!!

Scott took me to dinner at chilli's for my birthday. then we decided we were still young so we went to fat cats to go bowling. they had a deal for unlimited bowling until they closed. we ended up bowling 7 games somehow. the last game was the best though! scott bowled a 205 and i bowled 192! ya we couldn't move the next day but it was a lot of fun! yeah for my first birthday as a married girl, thanks to my husband for a fun night.

emily and cody's wedding cake

this is our latest wedding cake. i think it turned out pretty good. it was definately at our most rural area...it was down in milburn...ya i didn't know where that was either. it's on the way to manti. we got it there safe and sound so we were happy.

this flower is one that i made from stuff called gumpaste. it's a sugar type of material. they turned out beautiful, i did try however to make daisies but it didn't work out so well. they looked crappy next to this flower. so we just used fake flowers for the daisies. the bride loved it and that is really all that matters.

Pink and Green wedding cake

This was the lastest wedding cake we have done. of course i loved it because of all the pink...but it's more important that the bride and groom liked it. i think by her reaction she did. the design took some tweaking to get it just how she wanted it but in the end it turned out great! Along with decorating the cake we decorated the area as well. Scott saw them hanging up the paper lanterns around the greenhouse and thought it would look good with them above the cake...so we borrowed some. then we saw them putting table runners on the front table and decided that would look good on the table so we yoinked some of those too...all in all i think it looked pretty amazing!

my baby sister got married on saturday!!! she was the most beautiful bride ever! she married the best guy. he is such a hard worker and treats her just like the princess she is! the day turned out great, it stopped raining just long enough to have the reception outside. we had a great time helping out. of course my post wouldn't be a post without a picture of a cake! she let us design and do it without knowing what it looked like! not sure if she liked that or not but she didn't have a choice. Scott came up with the design of the cake and helped stack it so it didn't fall over in the middle of the reception. so here it is...

happy birthday shaylee

Shaylee turned 5 yesterday. she wanted a blue barbie princess cake. my niece Kasia helped make the cake and we both thought it turned out pretty cute.

oh, pretty

so i'm a plant killer...but this year was a good year to try planting flowers. look how good we did!

these are our snapdragons. they were almost dead when we got them but amazingly enough they ALL lived. we planted 7 of them. thanks rain!!!

i don't know what this one is, but it's pretty. i got a start from my mom. we only had one flower pop out but hey, that's a start for us.

cruising around walmart

i had to include this picutre from our shopping trip. we had just dropped the car off at jiffy lube to get the inspection and stuff done. it was going to be longer than we had expected so we decided to go to walmart. Scott crutched all the way to walmart. so by the time we got there he was all crutched out...so he went for a cruise

what are we teaching little girls?

Scott and i went to get a barbie for his neice's birthday present the other day. As we were cruising down the barbie isle there was a bag that i had to get a picture of.

when you look this goo, nobody cares if you're plastic. what a great message to be giving little girls. we had a good laugh over it.

update on scott's foot

I think Scott is trying to compete with my mom to see who can get a bigger and uglier bruise! He informed me that this is a sympothy injury...my mom fell last friday night and injured her leg really good, so scott just wanted to make her feel better about the whole thing. so nice of him don't you think?

ouch!

Scott was playing softball tonight and the field helped him sprain his ankle. he was playing 3rd base when a fly ball came his way. it was a little behind him so he turned to run for it. the field when it changes into the outfield grass has a huge slope. he hit the slope and his ankle rolled...but he made the catch! it hit his mit, bounce off and he caught it with his hand. the worst part was the team didn't have enough players for him to sit. so he tried to play catcher. but to top it off he still tried to hit...luckily go walked and almost didn't make it to first base. i'm sure you can tell in the picture, but it's his left ankle that is swollen. he is stuck on the couch with a bag of ice on it. hope it heals soon, he starts school again thursday :(

Maria's wedding

My high school friend Rachael's little sister got married yesterday! it was the 2nd wedding cake for the weekend for us. this one was different from all the rest because it is buttercream icing instead of the fondant. it doesn't look as smooth and perfect, but it still turned out beautiful! my favorite part of the evening...a little boy took a swipe of icing from the cake. he couldn't wait. so there was a finger mark in the back of the cake half way through the reception.

Congrats Jimmy and Becca

yes, another cake post! Scott's long time friend Jimmy is getting married to Becca tomorrow! I had the pleasure of making their wedding cake. i think it turned out pretty good. the first picture is the front of the cake and the bottom is a picture of the back of the cake. hopefully it will transport to the location great and we have no problems...wish us luck just in case.

just wanted to add a few pictures of the finished and delivered product. Jimmy and Becca's wedding was beautiful! the reception was perfect and the weather even cooperated. It was a nice sunny day in the middle of really rainy ones. so it was beautiful!

hike up payson canyon

Scott and I went on a short hike up payson canyon yesterday. We hiked to this beautiful water fall. it was short, but it was still a good workout! we wanted to go camping but it's supposed to rain...make that thunderstorm the next three days that we wanted to go camping. so i guess we'll go another time :(

just for fun

i promise i do more than just make cakes...but i couldn't resist trying this one. my mom's friend was going to have me make a "topsy turvy" cake for a birthday party but they decided to have vegies instead ("they are more likely to stop and grap veggies than they are to stop and eat a piece of cake...") makes no sense to me but oh well. so i decided to try and make one anyway because i haven't tried it before. so this is my first attempt. i also tried to make homemade marshmellow fondant...all in all it turned out pretty good for a lot of firsts.

Happy Birthday Gabe!!

Today is my oldest nephew Gabe's birthday. He is 5!!! i can't even believe he is that old already, time is just flying. i remember he was born when Scott and I had just started dating seriously. crazy how time flies! We had a family dinner/party for him tonight and my sister-in-law, Cat, asked me to make a birthday cake for him. it was a lot of fun to make and his reaction was well worth it. He told me thanks for making it the second he saw the cake then saw me. he is such a cute and kind kid! He opened gifts after dinner and it was hillarious. i guess we aren't very creative in my family because ben, hayden and i all got the same gift. he opened one and just said "wait a second," he had opened the exact same thing right before that. so it wasn't the most fun opening gifts, since they were all the same. but now he can pick out exactly what he wants :)
