Sub For Santa

This year for christmas Scott's family is doing a sub for santa. it's a larger family so we thought we would extend it to my family to see if anybody is interested in pitching in so they get a good christmas. This family is in our ward, they are a cute little family. there is mom, dad, 10yr old girl, 8 yr old girl, 3 yr old girl and a 1 yr old boy. i'm going to list below sizes and interests that i know and if you are interested in helping out please call me and let me know what you would like to do so we don't duplicate items. we will take any help so if you want to take an item or more up to taking one child, just let me know. we were hoping to get an outfit, pj's and at least one toy for each child. We would also like to do something for the parents (any suggestions are welcome) and some family games they can play together. we were also thinking about gathering up some food as well.

For the 1 yr old boy trucks, musical or talking toys, shape sorters, play mat, bath toys, blocks

i don't have specific sizes for the 3 and 1 yr old. i think if we just go with the clothing for that age we should be good. but all you mothers out there would know better than me :)

My birthday!!!

My husband and family all spoiled me this year!!! For my birthday after work Scott had a surprise for me. i didn't find out what it was until we pulled into the parking lot of a Day Spa. He handed me an envelope and told me to go inside and give it to the girl at the front desk. I had no idea what was going to happen inside....i got a massage, my hair cut and colored and a mini mani/pedi!!! I got pampered to say the least. i was so relaxed, it was wonderful! That night after the spa we went to dinner at Tucanos. DELICIOUS!!! There was more...we came home and he had a treasure hunt planned out. He gave me a box of Reese Puffs cereal and a huge bag of M&M's (which he was going to give me in the morning but he had misplaced them) and then he also got me a bike!!! it's so cute, white and pink of course. We went for a short ride to test it out...love it! Love him!!! Now for the part that my family spoiled me. A few of my siblings went in for dinner and a show tickets. Saturday night we went to Spagetti Mama's in Sandy and ate dinner while there was a Hunt's Mystery Theater perfomed. It was so fun!! We have done murder mystery dinners at home before, this was just as fun. The characters were great! The story was about a mobster family, The Altos, from Chicago. The head boss, Big Lou, was retiring and giving the family business to the next. The characters came around and mingled, the crowd was involved with the whole production. Scott even got involved. He was Tiny Tony. The driver (in the white coat) took him up as a suspicious character. i took a video...but can't get it to load. i'll try again later.

fun projects!

Check out my new purse!!! i decided i wanted to try and make my purse. my sister in law cheyenne made one that looked amazing so i wanted to try. i've decided i love to have a project. i'm bored if i don't. i think it turned out pretty good....i love it!!! Scott helped pick out the fabric and encourage me when i doubted!

4 wheeling

Scott and I decided to go 4 wheeling for a weekend. So we loaded up his dad's and my dad's wheelers and took off! We headed down south just outside of salina to an area that had tons of trails call gooseberry. it was TONS of fun! We went on a ride the first day and ended up going round trip 60 miles or so...on four wheelers that's a long trip. The area was beautiful! it had pines, aspens, lakes, wildlife and so much more. Some of the trails were crazy...but we made it out alive! i think eddie would be impressed with some of the trails i went on.We had a few fun things happen on our trip. To start the day we couldn't get my 4 wheeler to start. the battery was having problem staying charged. so after a long time spent looking for cables which were no longer in the truck we made some friends! We asked fellow campers if they had some to borrow. turns out they worked at trojen with eddie. small world! So once we got it started, we just left it running the whole time. we would stop and walk around but left it going. another fun thing...we were on our way back to camp. we had a cooler strapped to the back of scott's wheeler. I had been following him most of the way but he finally made me go first. well, we stopped after a while and found this....the cooler had tipped over and all the drinks and food spilt out. luckily we didn't have to go too far back to find all our supplies. made for a fun story.We got to cross a few streams too. that was fun.and now...this is what i get for following most of the time. scott had to get a picture. he was laughing so hard when i took of my hat and glasses. i now see why :)The second day we went into salina in the morning and had breakfast. Then came back for another ride. that day we went about 50 miles. Word of adivce, if you ever go on the gooseberry trails...don't go on #8. it SUCKS!!! there are so many rocks and it looks like it should be a nice relaxing ride but it wasn't!!! by far my least favorite trail we went on. #10 is fun though :)After our ride we played Ticket to ride at camp then decided to head home a day earlier than planned. we were both tired, and i don't think my thumb would have lasted another ride. We went back to my parents house that night, july 24th and watched the fireworks from their lawn.

it was a fun weekend!!

Scott's a PRO!!!

Scott's sister asked for a birthday cake for his niece's birthday. he was so cute and asked if he could make it....sure!!! so i had to take pictures for those who wouldn't believe....

Is that not the cutest tinkerbell house cake you've ever seen? He is so creative he put the 6 (her age) on top of the tea pot lid instead of just a nob, wrote out her name with flowers on the board...he just did an amazing job!!! she loved the cake and i think she loved the fact that scott had made it for her!

Yellowstone

Scott and i spent about a week and a half reunion-ing. These are pictures from my mom's side reunion. We stayed at a cabin in Island Park. For one day we went to Yellowstone. This was scott's first time. i had been when i was little and only remember a herd of buffalo running through our camp.

We had a lot of fun. it was cool going all over Yellowstone. We saw the stinky hot pots, Old Faithfull, some amazing waterfalls and even some wildlife.

There were buffalo all over Yellowstone. Humans didn't even phase them. This buffalo was right off the side of the road just grazing. while we were sitting there he came even closer...we were more nervous than him so we left.

We didn't see any Bears or Moose in Yellowstone. So here is our bear :) The lady in the store it was in was laughing...she thinks we will have a fun and happy marriage!! i agree!!

we saw a moose in jackson hole...but i don't have that picture yet. i'll post later.

I'm a new auntie!!!

My brother and sister-in-laws birthmom just had their baby girl!!! i haven't heard a name or any details yet...but i did get to see a picture and she is so adorable!!! Congrats Hayden and Cheyenne!

Scott's new job!!!

After many hours looking, many sent resumes, interviews and a lot of praying...we have been blessed with a job for scott!!! He will be working for at least a few months (maybe longer) with the census. it will be perfect for him, keeping him busy until school starts back up :) he wanted to surprise me and told me he was going for an interview....5 hours later he wasn't home and i hadn't heard a thing so i started to get nervous. he finally called and informed me that he had the job and he was a training. i love my husband!!!

Happy Birthday Britt!

i know this is late, but i just haven't had time to post. My little sister had her 23rd birthday in april. we had a fun party and helped her celebrate. Happy Birthday Britt. We love ya!

Sarah's wedding cake

I had a request for a camo wedding cake. I think it turned out pretty cute, especially with the custom cake stand, thanks jeff and britt :) Chocolate cake covered with fondant and a gumpaste W on top. The ribbon is a Mossy Oak Camo pattern...i am now well versed in camo :) never knew there were so many different kinds of camo. now i know! Think Tink!

This is the latest cake...it was hard! When i asked her what she wanted all i got was "blue and green" Well, after asking her friend what she liked we decided on Tinkerbell, hoping her friend knew her well. We didn't decide on the design of the cake until i was doing it...didn't sleep much because of it. But i think it turned out pretty good, and she loved it so i'm happy. This is my latest purchase, the paisley shape pans, fun! Covered with fondant. the number 15, emilee and the flowers are gumpaste. The green vines are fondant.
For a first try i think Tink came out pretty cute! she is made out of fondant.

So she wanted a white cake for the bottom and carrot cake for the top...so i had some fun with it. it's a white cake flavor, just won't quite look like a white cake :) that's a surprise so i'm excited to hear if she liked it.

Hallie's birthday

Hayden and Cheyenne asked me to make a ballerina themed cake for my niece Hallie. She turned 3!!! We had a birthday party for her and she had her tutu and crown. Everyone got their own crowns to wear. We played pin the tutu on the ballerina, ring around the rosies and a special ballerina princess left a clue for a treasure, so we went on a treasure hunt. It was a lot of fun. hallie was so cute, showing us all of her ballet moves she has learned, she is quite the ballerina. I love how she walks around on her tippie toes!
So my FAVORITE thing of the evening...Hayden was cutting the cake and Hallie says in her sweet voice "Daddy, why are you cutting my tutu?"

For her cake i made a funfetti and strawberry cake covered with fondant. The tutu, bow and "slinky's" (spirals on top) are made of fondant. The ballerina slippers are made of gumpaste. The letters on top are made of royal icing. I had a lot of fun making this since it was PINK!!!

Happy Birthday Hallie!!! We love you and are so happy to have you as our niece!

We did it!

They say the first year is the hardest...we did it! We celebrated our one year anniversary this weekend. We decided to splurge and we got a room at the Anniversary Inn in Logan. We stayed in the Artic Themed room. It has icecicles hanging from the ceiling, peguins, sea otters, polar bears and such. It was a lot of fun. We got a copy of our wedding video before we went up so we got to watch that for the first time, so fun to remember that day!
My mom saved the top tier of our wedding cake...we didn't want to but she did anyway. So we opened it and found a bunch of notes inside and yes we ate a piece...ew. We didn't really think the whole thing through when we made the cake. We weren't planning on keeping it so we didn't really like the flavor we did on top. So we ate some just to tell my mom we did :)

We went out to eat the the Texas Roadhouse. We enjoyed yummy fresh baked rolls, stead and ribs.

This was our breakfast the morning of our anniversary!

we are glad we were married a year ago...the weather today sucked!!! We drove home in snow but we made it!

Happy 1 year Anniversary Scott! I love you more than our wedding day! You always make me smile, laugh, help me with all my crazy projects and cakes, you are the best husband! love ya.
